where sky meets soil

We have been watching 2021 on the horizon for what feels like an eternity. Appropriate for this metaphor, the years fashion collections are showing a focus on earthy pigments with a bit of pastel and pink. Hues for home are also incorporating terracottas, tawny bedrocks, and ruddy reds. Allow us to indulge in one of our favorite palettes - horizon: where sky and soil meet.

With the renegotiation of fashion cycles underway, many brands opting to forgo the intensive pressures and environmental implications. Danish brand, Baum und Pferdgarten, for example, plans to shift to 10 annual drops in 2021 rather than seasonal collections. “Hopefully, this will create synergy between retail and marketing, where the pieces can be more true to season,” says co-founder Helle Hestehave.

With murmurs of the pandemics end in sight and data showing “early gaps in retailers’ inventory in the new year are predicted, further encouraging retailers to introduce new Spring/Summer stock more quickly than usual," notes Kati Chitrakorn in Vogue Business. This early drop has many speculating a longer summer season and hopefully that will make for an increase in sales.

We are advocating for looking at trend elements like color within a longer arc. The horizon palette is surfacing in SS21, Resort, Menswear and FW21, alike. By incorporating these tones, items are able to operate as wardrobe staples instead of the fast-fashion frenzy that has dominated for seasons upon seasons.
